The Austen Riggs Center commissioned Monte to draw the portrait of Medical Director Edward Shapiro, in residence for nearly two decades and a significant contributor to psychoanalytic research.

In the late 1950's, Norman Rockwell was commissioned to draw seven portraits of Riggs medical staff wihch are all on display in the Center's main entrance hall.
